He served as a military chaplain during World War II and was one of the four chaplains aboard the USAT Dorchester when it was torpedoed by a German U-boat in 1943. In the face of imminent danger, Rev. Fox and the other chaplains selflessly gave up their life jackets to save others, choosing to go down with the ship. Their sacrifice and bravery continue to inspire generations.To honor Rev.
